Resumen:
Wind turbines currently available for wind farm applications fall in the range 400-600 kW. Larger turbines may be more cost effective and significant effort is being expended on the development of machines of up to 1 MW rating. However, on weak rural electricity systems, larger turbines may have disadvantages that could reduce the perceived economic benefit. The paper reports on progress with a CEC-funded project to anticipate the possible problems and develop solutions.
